Vulvar itching, irritation and new dark pigmentation — any idea what could be causing this?

I’m looking for some opinions on what could be causing my symptoms. About a month ago, I developed itching around my vulva and assumed it was a yeast infection. I used Canesten cream externally for 7 days and also did the 3-day vaginal treatment. Things improved a little afterward, but the itching and general discomfort eventually came back. My discharge has been normal throughout and there has never been any unpleasant odor. Interestingly, I had no symptoms at all during my period , which ended last week. Last Sunday, I noticed that the skin around my vaginal opening had become dry, red and slightly flaky. I bought Cicatridina cream from a pharmacy, and the dryness/flaking and redness improved, but the area still looks redder than usual and feels somewhat irritated. Over the last few days the itching has actually been getting milder, but today I noticed that some parts of my vulva have become noticeably darker . The tips of my labia are darker than they used to be, and there are also some new dark patches on the vulva that I hadn’t noticed before. I did already have one mole/discolored spot there, but these new areas look different. I also occasionally get a mild, slightly stabbing sensation in the vulvar area rn. Some context: I weightlift around 5 times a week, so I’m often in tight leggings, and I live somewhere that gets quite hot during summer. I also recently started having sex with a new partner after a long time without one, around the time I finished the Canesten treatment, so naturally that has made me a bit more concerned. I have a gynecological appointment in 10 days, but I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something similar. Could this simply be irritation/post-inflammatory pigmentation from the previous inflammation, friction, etc., or could there be another explanation for the new dark patches? submitted by /u/Conscious-Glass1826 [link] [comments]
