Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice or to hear about similar experiences. Back in March, my Pap smear came back as ASC-US , but my HPV test was negative . My gynecologist prescribed 3 months of treatment (vitamins, antioxidants, and Colpofix gel+ gardasil vaccine) I repeated the Pap smear after 3 months, and the result now says: Reduced inflammatory background Trophic squamous epithelial cells, transformation zone present Minimal reparative-inflammatory changes No cytological atypia Predominantly lactobacillary flora Conclusion: Negative for intraepithelial lesion or malignancy (NILM, Bethesda 2014) My gynecologist had previously told me that if the repeat Pap was “still the same,” we would do a colposcopy. Since this result is now NILM (which sounds much better than ASC-US), but it still mentions minimal inflammatory changes, I’m wondering: Would you still go back for a colposcopy? Has anyone had ASC-US/HPV-negative followed by a NILM result with mild inflammation? Is this generally considered a return to normal, or are the inflammatory changes something that usually needs further investigation?
