Hi. I am a 20 year old female who just received a diagnosis (FULL REPORT NOT AVAILABLE TO ME YET + not yet spoken to physician) of a hemorrhagic cyst (I know it’s not OC but i have a family history of it and don’t agree with my diagnosis so please keep reading) The diagnosis came after beginning Aurovela 1/20 on May 29th to help manage long, heavy periods with large blood clots, cramping, and abnormal bleeding outside of my period which worsened from light pink spotting lasting 1-3 days to brown or bright red bloody discharge lasting 10-15 days. I finished my first month of Aurovela and began my period on June 10th and have been bleeding ever since. It started as brown spotting for the first two weeks and then transitioned to a regular period flow (lighter than my normal still with clots requiring pads and tampons). I went back to the doctor monday and was prescribed norgestimate-ethinyl estradiol (after breaking down and adamantly refusing DEPO) This diagnosis concerns me because I have been experiencing worsening symptoms for (technically) YEARS and in all the research i’ve done it says hemorrhagic cysts resolve on their own within 1-2 months. My cycles have always been a normal 28 days but heavy and with clots and cramping that have worsened in the past 3 years. Once i became sexually active (18) I began the light pink spotting between periods for 1-3 days during my ovulation (occupied by cramps). Since September of last year the spotting began worsening becoming heavier, browner and lasting longer. I would also get bloody discharge after sex or during exercise such as squats or lifting. It was to the point of needing towels for sex and pads for the gym. I had a physical in February and was too scared to bring up the pelvic pain and spotting because it wasn’t affecting me that much, but in March I made a separate appointment to address it because it was worsening (cramps pelvic twinges and pain heavy clots during period and spotting for 10-15 days outside of it).
