Charge Nurse: The Shift

Run a labor & delivery unit for a 12-hour shift. Place admissions, assign nurses, hold the AWHONN ratios, deliver babies, and keep the unit out of the red. The GRACE level and staffing math are computed by the same engine that powers the live dashboard — so this is real decision practice, dressed up as a game.

How to play

  • Admit patients from the triage queue into an open bed and assign a nurse.
  • • Keep every 1:1 patient on a dedicated nurse — no sharing, no care assistants.
  • • Watch each nurse’s load bar; over 100% breaks the AWHONN ratio.
  • 🚨 Emergencies need safe dedicated coverage fast, or they become adverse events.
  • Transfer recovered moms to postpartum to free L&D beds (you need PP beds!).
  • • Out of staff or beds? Call on-call, open overflow, or expedite discharges.
